The climate and nature emergency
In November 2025 the National Emergency Briefing (NEB) brought together experts and concerned citizens to persuade politicians to take action on the climate and nature crisis. The NEB was attended by 1250+ politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media. Click on the National Emergency Briefing Logo for more details.
Following the briefing a People’s Emergency Briefing public information film has been made to take the message to to all constituencies so that MPs and communities can see the same evidence together.
RVCAN held our first local Screening of the Peoples Emergency Briefing at The Grindleton Pavilion on Friday 10th April, when around 60 people gathered for some thought provoking conversations.

Our first screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing
Ribble Valley Climate Action Network hosted a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing film on Friday 10th April at Grindleton Pavilion. The event was well attended by around 60 people and resulted in some thought provoking discussions.

The Climate and Nature Bill

Residents meet MP to call for action on Climate and Nature
Residents in Pendle and Clitheroe recently met local MP Jonathan Hinder, to discuss the crisis facing climate and nature. At the meeting, members of Ribble Valley Climate Action Network spoke to Jonathan about the Climate and Nature Bill (the ‘CAN’ Bill) and stressed the need for a joined-up approach to tackling the climate and nature emergencies with stronger, integrated policies to restore local nature, increase Pendle and Clitheroe’s resilience to climate change, and to protect local livelihoods. “Ribble Valley Borough Council recognises that we are in a state of Climate Emergency that requires urgent action by all levels of government, including by local councils”.
A motion passed at council on 14 October 2025 stated that the council will set targets and develop resources to both enable carbon neutrality across the full range of council activities by 2030 and also to support making the Borough of Ribble Valley carbon neutral by 2050.
